MATERIALIDADES
Preto, castanho, vermelho, roxo… algumas coisas que aconteceram, ou uma série de acontecimentos banais no rio ave é um percurso pelas materialidades da água e da paisagem submersa do Vale do Ave. Se, hoje, a indústria está menos ativa, podem-se ver os vestígios da degradação dos recursos naturais.

MATERIALITIES
Black, brown, red, purple… some things that happened or a series of everyday occurrences in the River Ave is a path through the materialities of water and the submerged landscape of the Vale do Ave. Though industry is now declining, traces of the degradation of natural resources can be seen.

Eduardo Matos (Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, 1970), vive e trabalha em Bruxelas, Bélgica. Mestre em Práticas Artísticas Contemporâneas (FBAUP). Trabalha desde 1999 como artista plástico. No seu percurso tem vindo a desenvolver trabalhos onde cruza a linguagem imagem/vídeo/escultura com a tridimensionalidade espacial e interactuante de instalações – reconstruindo e desconstruindo especificamente em cada lugar e a cada momento as peças que compõem o simulacro de um jogo de metáforas estéticas, identitárias, sociais, políticas e geográficas. Foi membro fundador do Salão Olímpico (2003/06), projeto independente gerido por artistas. Este projeto organizou exposições individuais e coletivas de artes plásticas, eventos e mostras temáticas, dedicadas ao desenho, à performance e ao cinema e editou fanzines. Organizou as exposições North by Northwest (2001) com Gustavo Sumpta na Caldeira 213, To Play (2003) no Artemosfera e Intro (2007) com André Cepeda no Espace Photographique Contretype, Bruxelas.
Eduardo Matos (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1970) lives and works in Brussels, Belgium. He holds a Master’s degree in Contemporary Artistic Practices from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto). His works combine the languages of image/video/sculpture with the spatial and interactive three dimensionality of the installation. In his site-specific works, he recreates and deconstructs the simulation of a play of aesthetic, social, political, geographic and identity-related metaphors. He collects elements and remnants from the civil world – its codes, laws, rules, events and history – which he uses to fill up a space in a composition that attempts to establish a relationship among them. These are neither narratives nor descriptions but disrupted images which build up realities and question the organizational, managerial and learning processes that are part of modern democratic society. He is one of the founders of Salão Olímpico (an independent arts project).
