Black Smoke é uma série fotográfica realizada durante a noite na cidade do Porto, documentando edifícios icónicos da revolução industrial, hoje abandonados. Os grandes palacetes, os pavilhões industriais, ou a antiga central elétrica, são espaços improdutivos no final de uma época áurea.

SPACIALITIES
Black Smoke is a photographic series made at night in the city of Oporto, documenting iconic buildings of the industrial revolution which are now abandoned. The mansions, industrial pavilions and the former electrical plant are unproductive spaces at the end of a golden age.

André Cepeda (Coimbra, 1976) vive e trabalha no Porto, Portugal. Frequentou o curso de fotografia na École des Art d’Ixelles de Bruxelas, entre 1995 e 1996. Colaborou com diversas instituições como os Encontros de Fotografia, Centro Português de Fotografia e Fundação Ílidio Pinho, onde foi responsável pelo tratamento e digitalização de imagens do projeto
www.anamnese.pt. Expõe regularmente desde 1999 em Portugal e no estrangeiro. Das suas recentes exposições individuais destacam-se: Gallery INVALIDEN, Berlim, Alemanha, 2012; 2011, Centro de Artes Visuais, Coimbra, 2011; Untitled, Galeria Pedro Oliveira, Porto, 2010; Ontem, Espace Photographique Contretype, Bruxelas, Bélgica, 2010; BesPhoto 2010, Museu Berardo, Lisboa, 2010; River, Galeria Pedro Cera, Lisboa, 2009. Está representado em diversas coleções públicas e privadas. Em 2011 foi selecionado para a shortlist do Prémio Paul Huf Award, Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdão. O seu novo livro “Rien”, foi publicado este ano pela Pierre Von Kleist Editions.
André Cepeda (Coimbra, 1976) currently lives and works in Oporto, Portugal. He attended the photography course at the Art d’Ixelles in Brussels between 1995 and 1996. His collaborations extend to diverse institutions, such as Encontros de Fotografia, the Portuguese Centre of Photography and the Ilídio Pinho Foundation, where he was responsible for handling and digitalizing the images that formed part of the project

Among his most recent solo exhibitions: the INVALIDEN Gallery, Berlin, Germany, 2012; 2011, Visual Arts Centre, Coimbra, 2011; Untitled, Pedro Oliveira Gallery, Oporto, 2010; Ontem, Espace Photographique Contretype, Brussels, Belgium, 2010; BesPhoto 2010, Berardo Museum, Lisbon, 2010; River, Pedro Cera Gallery, Lisbon, 2009. His works are represented in many public and private collections and in 2011, he was short-listed for the Paul Huf Award, Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam. His new book, Rien, was published by Pierre Von Kleist Editions.
